FIRST® LEGO® League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Friendly competition is at the heart of FIRST LEGO League Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-14 engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering - building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game.

National Registration: Now Open
Illinois Registration: Opening October 1
For only the 2026/2027 BIOGLOW Season, FIRST will offer two versions of the program: Founders and Future Edition.
Founders: Founders edition will be modeled after the prior seasons of FIRST LEGO League Challenge. SPIKE Prime, Inventor, EV3, Essentials, etc will be allowed within the Founders edition competition. The LEGO CS & AI Kit is explicitly NOT allowed in Founders edition.
Future: Future edition teams will use the new LEGO Computer Science & AI Kit. This is the only allowable robotics platform for Future edition. The program model does differ from the Founders program model.
The primary season offered in Illinois will be the Founders edition program.
Teams participating in Future edition will be able to attend at least one competition, but the structure, timing, and location of those events will be determined in September. After the 2026/2027 BIOGLOW Season, Illinois will not be participating in Future Edition.
